MANILA, Philippines — A total of 18 foreigners, 11 of them Chinese and the rest Vietnamese, were arrested last week in Parañaque City for scamming activities.

The National Bureau of Investigation said on Wednesday that its agents conducted an operation on Jan. 15 at Multinational Village in Parañaque, which led to the arrest of seven Vietnamese and three Chinese nationals.

They were found to be engaged in various scamming activities, such as investment fraud, cryptocurrency scam and artificial intelligence scam.

Another NBI operation on Jan. 17 based on a tip led to the arrest of eight more Chinese who were also behind several scams. —Gillian Villanueva
